Lama Karma Thinley Rinpoche
Born 25th May 1931 in Nangchen, Tibet
At a tender age of eighteen months old Lama Karma Thinley Rinpoche was recognised as an incarnate Lama of the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism. Some years later he was identified as the fourth in the line of the famous master Karma Thinley by His Holiness the 16th Karmapa.

As an eminent teacher of the Sakya and Kagyu Schools of Tibetan Buddhism, Rinpoche has travelled extensively teaching the dharma. Over his lifetime he has established many Buddhist centres throughout the world, which serve as very important places where people have the opportunity to learn about the Buddha’s teachings.

The Dechen Buddhist Community of which we belong was founded by Karma Thinley Rinpoche with the sole purpose to help make available to people the authentic teachings of the Buddha.

Alongside the establishment of dharma centres, Rinpoche holds the responsibility of abbot to a nunnery in Nepal called Tegshen Legshey Ling.

An accomplished poet and artist who is greatly skilled in the graceful written art form of calligraphy of which ‘Compassion’, is a beautiful example.

Karma Thinley Rinpoche’s great accomplishments and many responsibilities help to ensure that the dharma continues to prosper for all of us who have an interest in Buddhism and wish to apply the teachings of the Buddha into our daily lives.
